What's needed to burn dvds on my laptop (for dummies)?

I have a Dell Windows Vista laptop. It has wireless capability. That's all I have. I'm not sure what else it takes. I'm sorta technology illiterate, but I might be able to follow. I want to know, because I might be able to find the remainder of software needed during the Black Friday sales. I'm already going to get a printer for it during the sale.
