How much has Jesus changed human society?

regardless if your believe if he was a messiah or an icon. None the less he stood for something and his purpose was to enlighten his peers, and attempt to spread goodwill. Not unlike Gandhi, but did society really get better? or was Jesus' death taken in vain and used as an excuse to not be more righteous? Goodwill is goodwill right? Not everyone can be that way of course. Its human nature; Or is human nature and excuse as well?selflessness and chivalry exist purely in very few individuals, and one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch.
